The famous»British Birdwatching Fair« is the biggest global event, dedicated to nature, wild animals and plants. The 26th fair was celebrated this year, from od 15th to 17th August 2014 in Rutland Water Nature Reserve in England. The funds collected at the fair were donated to BirdLife’s Global Seabird Programme. The funds will help this international organization protect global seas and oceans.
At the fair, our Ari, the Mediterranean Shag was present, too, in the children’s book »The first journey of Ari, the Mediterranean Shag«, published within the scope of the project SIMARINE-NATURA. The book in English was distributed at the BirdLife’s stand, and along with that, a short presentation of the project SIMARINE-NATURA was projected.
Every year there are more birdwatchers and nature lovers attracted to this event, lately as many as over 350 companies and organizations and 22.000 individual visitors. Increasing interest for visiting the fair proves that caring for nature is ever more present among people and that we can contribute to nature conservation by uniting our forces.
This short video presents the 25-year contribution of “BirdFair” to the nature conservation through BirdLife’s programmes:
